God With Us is an album of original music that creatively illustrates man’s relationship with God through the idea of “home.” Originally composed to underscore the ten scripture readings at Hope Chapel’s 2019 Lessons and Carols Service, the music imaginatively accompanies spoken text. The idea of “home” is traced through man’s design to be at home with God, our loss of that home, and God’s restoration of that home through Christ. The project was funded through a Kickstarter in January 2020, and was also supported by a residency at Arts Letters & Numbers. The album was released on Friday December 18th, 2020.
God With Us is ten pieces of music built around ten texts. Each are about a different theme in man’s relationship with God. The music that has been crafted to underscore each text is played by a small chamber ensemble that includes a string quartet, clarinet, and piano. The album will include two versions of each track: one will be the scripture read over the music, and the other will be the music alone.
